The opening night of Impressions 6,2011 with Dr Anne Kirker & Jenny Sanzaro-Nishimura (Impress President) Welcome to all Impress members & friends alike. We hope you enjoy this blog as the new platform for our newsletter. It is hoped that you make use of it to market yourselves & your arts practice as well as keeping up with any arts events , workshops & related activities that may be of interest to you. We will also provide updated news on the changes as we proceed to the new studio this year and seek out opportunities that you can participate in too. Please explore this blog, leave your comments and provide your email if you wish for posts to be directed to you instantly otherwise add us to your favourites list so that you may visit whenever you like. The CPM Awards occurred recently; The 2011 Awards were Judged by Professor Sasha Grishin AM, FAHA - Head of Art History, Australian National University & were presented for exhibition at the Tweed Gallery. Works in printmedia were diverse & beautifully conceived. A number of Impress members attained awards for their prints. Congratulations to Gwenn Tasker, who won the $400 Barbara Carroll Award For Socio/Political Comment for her relief, silkscreen Nature Consumed IV. "This print is a powerful and brilliant statement concerning a threatened environment" said Professor Grishin in regard to Gwenns work. Our congratulations also to those who received commendations including Glenda Orr & Sue Pickford. For more achievements (and inspiration) please visit the spotlight page & read about the projects our members are involved in.Have a look at their websites or share the info on your facebook or twitter networks. Many of you were involved in the annual Impressions this year; congrats on a marvelous show;please read the Presidents Report for more as well as images on the events page. As you can see there are a few things happening this year in terms of projects so why not commit to one of them & get your work out there! Id love to see images of any print media or works on paper you are working on so dont be shy.Contributions are welcome for consideration from any of you who have articles, images you wish to be published. Email karenkaese@yahoo.com Now, as the innaugeral artist Lisa Pullen couldn't wait to get pen to paper & share the ideas behind her extensive works in printmaking & painting; read more here as she blogs about it all. Go Lisa! If you are commenting ensure we can print your words & that feedback is constructive as you will go into a competition to win Lisa Pullen's print "Release" which is printed on watercolour paper. Thanks again to Lisa for this & also to all of you generous members who have donated prints for IPSB Etsy shop , as well as extra money when renewing your membership, volunteering for the Impressions & Homefest events that occured recently. Without you the club wouldn't be able to function so THANK YOU. Amanda O'sullivan, "Sparrow" |
